Good performance but no points

Plzeň – Bohemians 2:1

The last round of the autumn brought Bohemians to the west. Viktoria needed a win to become the half season champion and they tried their best to achieve this goal.

Both teams started slowly, the chances were rare. The pace of the game was accelerating by time and Pilsen began to attack, in most cases through the right side.

It was 20th minute when Řezník came through that side of the pitch and sent the ball to the penalty area but Tecl haven’t reached it and missed it by centimetres. Just minutes later it was Pilař in a similar position, but Cseh got there on time and he got rid of it.

Kangaroos prepared a chance as well. The corner kick which was played short was finished by Mikuš’ fast cross ball and Krch’s header was just wide. Hrošovský was next to attack the score but his long range shot ended at the cross bar.

Viktoria went into the lead at 32nd minute. Pilař fell in the penalty area after a slight touch by Pauschek and referee pointed at the penalty spot right away. Švenger guessed the side right but couldn’t deflect he shot away.

This helped the home team to keep the ball for a longer period and they didn’t let the kangaroos do anything. Pilsen attacked frequently, but the defensive line, especially Cseh was the key player who stopped most of the tries.

But the last word of the half was from a mouth of Bohemians. Mosquera ran for a cross ball from the right side and he hit the crossbar with a header.

The second half started better for the home team. Firstly it was Tecl who escaped into a solo run but Švenger, together with Cseh saved the situation. Kangaroos didn’t secure a counterattack after a corner kick in 51st minute and unfortunately, Jindřišek who was defending Procházka, sent the ball into his own net.

Pilsen calmed down after their second goal and the game slowed down. Kangaroos used that situation and with an increased activity, they surprised the home defense line. It all culminated at 69th minute. Mosquera was tackled near the penalty area and referee decided for a free kick. Jindřišek sent a low ball underneath the wall and hit the target and lowered the score to 2:1.

Viktoria woke up again and moved the play in front of the away goal. The home team could have secured the win with another goal when Šírl lost a ball. Petržela went one on one with the keeper but Švenger showed another great save.

Bohemians made a final pressure at the end of the match and they kept the ball on Pilsen half. However, not even tall Šmíd couldn’t change the final score. The match ended with only a goal difference and the great performance was not enough to get the any points.
