It’s not easy to be green (and white). Well, Kermit would understand. Blšany have gained the first points at home and, at the same time, scored the first goal on the home turf. Against generous Bohemka...<br /> Between 500-600 fans arrived from Prague to the hops growing region where the Blšany village is located only to cry into their beer after the game. Despite having almost a home advantage, Bohemka disappointed all these fans who had to get up early to catch the game that started at an unusual time (10:30 a.m.).
In the beginning, it almost looked like a continuation of the game against Jakubčovice. Crisp passing created good scoring chances for Bohemka, however its players could not capitalize on them. About 15 minutes into the game, Blšany took control of the game. The first, and, as it turned out, the only goal of the game was scored after a corner kick and some sloppy defensive play by Bohemka rearguards. The sloppy plays on Bohemka’s part continued throughout the game.
Although it appeared that Bohemka had more ball possession, it was more or less an optical illusion - scoring chances were non-existent. It did not help that the team’s captain Slezák got himself ejected from the game. He received his first yellow card for unnecessary protests and the second yellow card for faking a fall in the penalty area. Bohemka continued pressing even one man short, however, with no effect.
The end result did not please any Bohemka fans, with two exceptions. The home team is coached by two former Bohemians greats, Bičovský (capped 45 times, 15 goals for the Czechoslovak national team) and Chaloupka (capped 20 times, 2 goals) who, despite admitting having been big Bohemka fans, enjoyed their team’s victory.
Speaking of coaches, Mr. Busta’s chair has become a bit shaky after this game. The management threw the support behind him, but fans’ sentiments are different. If the next game in Opava does not produce any point gain for Bohemka, the situation will become more serious, not only for Bohemka, but also for Mr. Busta...
