Very good game saw 9.321 football supporters who visited last game of the season between FC Bohemians Prague and Slovan Liberec. Altought Bohemians won 2:1 Liberec became for the first time in the club´s history Champion of the Czech League because also Viktoria Zizkov lost to Slavia Prague. Bohemians finished on the fourth position which is their best place in the Czech League.

It was a very important game for both teams. Liberec needed to win to be sure to become a Champion of the League and Bohemians had a chance to get to the UEFA Cup (only if Sparta ended third and won the Czech Football Association Cup on Monday). The game itself was very interesting and Bohemians started better. First shot came already in the 3rd minute from Senkerik. First Bohemians goal came already in the 10th minute of the game when Kisel passed the ball to the penalty area where a young Kolar had enough time to score his first league goal in his life - 1:0! A minute later also Liberec had a good chance but Pilny missed a ball. In the 22nd minute Kulig fouled Stajner in the penalty box and it ment a penalty shot for Liberec. Great Bohemians goalkeeper Contofalsky (voted by fans as the best Bohemians player of the season) saved the shot. In the 34th minute made a big mistake Liberec defender Holenak and Sirl easely scored second Bohemians goal - 2:0! Just before the half time had a big chance to scored third Bohemians goal Senkerik but he missed by meter. On the other side Liberec got a free kick and Kolusek made the game even more interesting - 2:1! Second half started better for Liberec who had many chance but also Bohemians could score few more goals. In the 55th minute had a good chance Stajner but he hit only the post. In the 68th minute Contofalsky made another save, and second shot from Zboncak stopped Kulig on the goal line! Last twenty minutes Liberec kept the ball on the Bohemians half but still was unable to score a goal. At this time game between Slavia and Viltoria Zizkov was still 0:0 which ment that Liberec would ended only on the second place. Ten minutes left to the game Kolousek hit the post again, and Stajner´s shot was saved by goalkeeper Contofalsky. Another chances had Capek and Gyan but Contofalsky saved again. It ment Bohemians won 2:1 and Liberec was waiting for the result of Slavia - Viktoria game. Thanks to Kukas´s goal five minutes left to the game which ment Slavia won 1:0 Liberec could celebrate the first place in the 1. Czech Gambrinus League 2001/2002. Second ended Sparta, third Viktoria and fourth Bohemians.
