Even though Bohemians kindergarten corps put up a good fight, the result of the Prague derby did not surprise anyone. Bohemians, weakened by the absence of all summer reinforcements (see Club Situation Update), fought valiantly, but to no avail against the leading team of the second division.
The decisive moment of the match came in the last minute of the first half when one of a few “senior” Bohemians players (Strnad) was sent off for playing a handball on the goal line. Viktoria’s Straceny missed on a penalty shot but the absence of one player was too much to handle for Bohemians later on in the match.
Up until then Bohemians with many under 18 players in their lineup pressed hard and were leading 1:0 on a penalty kick by Koukal. Viktoria took over in the second half and scored four goals within a 30 minute period. Bohemians made the result somewhat respectable on a Prohászka own goal.
