The last day of August meant a relief for embattled fans of Bohemians. It was the last day for registration of player transfers. With all transfer to the club blocked, only transfers out of the club were possible.´

Unfortunately, one more transfer took place last week. Bohemians lost their most promising young forward Koukal (picture), member of the under 21 national team. He was traded to the first league team of Teplice following in the footsteps of his former teammate Szabo. To be fair to the management of the club, they did not have much room left to maneuver. Koukal’s contract was about to expire in a few months and he was not willing to extend it. And who can blame him, considering the problems the club is going through?
While all transfers of “senior” players to Bohemians have been blocked, the ruling does not apply to “junior” players (i.e, under 18 players). Bohemians used this loophole to their advantage promoting some promising juniors of their own to the senior team. They also acquired some promising juniors from other Prague based teams on a loan. The coach Dusan Uhrin jr. is now busy trying to mold all the newcomers into a cohesive unit. As most of them are attending high schools, an additional problem has surfaced – practice times had to be changed to suit all these youngsters until their individual study plans can be negotiated with their respective school principles.
The club made an attempt to re-gain services of one of its established forwards, Daniel Huna, by appealing his four game suspension that was issued after he had been ejected from the game with Most for retaliation. However, the club’s appeal was denied and Huna will miss one more game.
The coach Dusan Uhrin jr. granted an interview for this web site. He expressed his hope that the second league can be salvaged for the following season even with the much weakened squad. When asked about newspaper reports that one the first league teams was interested in his services he replied that he would not leave the team in this situation. He said, “I would feel like a traitor.” He should be canonized.
Bohemians fans wrote an open letter to the majority owner of Bohemians, Mr. Böhm. They expressed their frustration not only with the club’s current situation but also with an absence of any plan of action or even interest from Mr. Böhm’s side. They also voiced their strong support for Mr. Vejsada who was sacked by Mr. Böhm in favour of Mr. Vit who proved to be a total failure.
And the latest news flash - Mr. Böhm managed to get the rest of Bohemians football club shares from the minority owner Mr. Zlámal to become the sole owner of Bohemians. This is painted as a step forward enabling the club’s management to make faster decisions that should benefit the club and not its minority shareholder. We reserve our judgment.
