This and that

A management decision to move the game start time against Kunovice to Friday 4 p.m. caused an outcry among many loyal fans. They pointed out that it was impossible to leave their work early enough to beat the Friday rush hour traffic and be at Dolicek on time for the kick-off. The management promised to review the future start times. Although Bohemians pioneered the use of artificial lights many decades ago, they are unable to use them due to their state of disrepair. Until the time that money is found to rectify this situation, some fans will be left out in the dark.

In a widely expected move, Mr. Krizek (new Bohemians owner) appointed his close friend and associate, Mr. Vejsada, to a position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the club.  Good luck to everybody whose intentions are good!

One of the youngest coaches in the Czech professional football, our own Dusan Uhrin jr., is celebrating his birthday today.  He is turning 37.  Thanks for the good work and many happy returns!

The presence of “B” (or reserve) teams in the Czech Second League may seem strange to football fans abroad.  These teams have no chance of being promoted to the First League for as long as their “A” teams are not relegated.  Players can be moved between “A” and “B” teams with only a few restrictions, which does not contribute to the fairness of competition.  One never knows what “B” team will show up – will it be a true “B” team or a team stacked with “A” team players?  Given the current corruption scandal that engulfed the Czech professional football it would be the right time to prevent all suspicion and create a separate league just for “B” teams.  Will the Czech Football Association do it?  Can pigs fly?
