Your feedback so far...

This week we asked you to send us your stories and thoughts about Bohemians and we almost instantly received several emails with your feedback. Thank you very much for your support and if you have anything else to say, please send us your view to Beer_Is_What_I_Like@hotmail.com or tonda@fc-bohemians.cz.

Neil Osborne - seeing Bohemka every time when in Prague

About ten years ago a friend and I decided to be very brave and venture into eastern europe a take a look at Prague. After a few nights of beer and sight seeing we decided to try to find a game to watch.

The host at our accomodation(Vladimir) tried to make us watch Sparta play ice-hockey but we were having none of it. As he then reported that neither Sparta or Slavia were playing at home and he knew of no other teams in Prague, we were ready to give up until his wife told us of a team called Bohemians who played near by.

Upon further investigation we found that their home Dolicek was only 2 stops from Nemesti Miru where we were staying and a game was due to start in 30 minutes. We rushed off to find Dolicek and were treated to a 4-0 victory, standing behind the goal and beer. Heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have returned to Prague several times since and each occasion has coincided with a Bohemka game. The last trip was in Nov 03 when we played Hradec Kralove (1-1), a terrible game but entertaining crowd.

Keep up the website and pass on my best wishes to all at the club for a brighter future.

Regards Neil Osborne

ps. I am a Sheffield Wednesday fan so I understand suffering.

gawblimeyman - what Prague can offer to an East Dulwich guy

gawblimeyman was short in his email, sending us only a link to his blog. However we found his series of "Postcards from Prague" posts very entertaining and had a lot of laughs there. This guy came to Prague only for a few days but he managed to attend several football matches including FC Tempo v. TJ Kyje (5th league in Czech football pyramid - our first thought was that this guy was some kind of masochist but then we decided he was just a keen football supporter) and one ice hockey match. Some of his views on czech spectators are very funny, so don't miss his blog at http://www.gawblimeyguv.blogspot.com/. Here is a part about Bohemians v. Pardubice match:

I couldn't wait for the next one as I had a football match to get to. A second division match between Bohemians and Pardubice. Bohemians ground was the closest I'd seen to an English stadium, albeit a two sided one. A large open terrace behind the goal & a big old stand with wooden benches along the side. Not a large crowd-this WAS second division don't forget!-slightly more than at Sparta reserves the day before, with 734 hardy souls. Unlike saturday morning these supporters' were the business! Fucking lively? I'll say! Unlike the visiting contingent. No more than ten of them it looked like! With about five flags between them! It was like going back to my secondary schooldays at the height of Tory rule. A lack of school text books-one between two! No programme, but some sort of anti racist fanzine type glossy handed out on the gate, including some pics from a supporters' tournament in Hamburg, Germany. They appear to have some sort of link up with St. Pauli, from there. www.fcstpauli.de & www.ultra-stpauli.com.

Also plugged is the group "Football Against Racism In Europe", but sadly I can't tell you any more as it was all in Czech! www.farenet.org.

It was the Bohemians who took the lead, but with only a few minutes remaining were 3-2 behind! Then they equalised with seconds remaining! Pandemonium among the couple of hundred Bohemian Ultras behind the goal! And they were superb throughout the entire match, plenty of singing, ticker tape, bog rolls, flags & drums! Even plastic pints of beer lobbed onto the pitch over the high netting behind the goal in the last few minutes! How they managed that I don't know, there must be an excellent technique to it. But though they were angry with the referee they were chilled out as well, judging by that aroma of waccy baccy drifting across the steps. Almost made me pine for the 'Rabble behind the goal' at Champion Hill! I almost feel guilty as choosing Sparta as my favourite Czech team-they are the Manchester United of the country. Hugely succesful & just as hated! But my excuse is that I didn't know that when I started following their results in the dim & distant past, only that they were formed in 1893-the same year as Dulwich Hamlet. Without a shadow of doubt they are my second favourite team, & if it weren't for the 1893 tenuous link then they would be my top team alright! www.fc-bohemians.cz.

So, this is it for this week. Keep your thoughts coming and stay tuned for more.
