“We all know what your name is, so you better lay your money down.”
(Led Zeppelin)

Eat your heart out, Liz Taylor. Even from her death bed, the old dame Bohemians can do better from than you ever did. It is her fifth marriage within a year. Since Richard Burton is no longer around, Gustav Bubnik jr. will do. And as in Richard Burton’s case, this is Gustav’s second go around with the same bride (Gustav Bubnik jr. represented the Commercial Union Life Insurance when it was the main sponsor of Bohemians about four years ago).
This white knight is young (42 years), dark and handsome, at least judging from his picture seen here. He is a former child movie star. His transition to adulthood was not as difficult as for some other actors/actresses in the same situation as he switched from acting to producing and directing. He had worked in the financial sector for the last five years, occasionally going back to his former field of endeavour when dubbing foreign movies. He is a son of the former Czech hockey star Gustav Bubnik sr. (silver Olympic medal in 1948, gold World Championship medal in 1949). Gustav Bubnik sr. has been an MP since the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Gustav Bubnik jr. is also sport oriented, however, unlike his father, he never played at the top level. He is said to speak English well so I guess we will have to watch ourselves here. The new owner was introduced to players and spectators before the Tipsport Cup game between Bohemians and Jablonec. Although he is registered as an owner, he claims to have other investors both from the Czech Republic and abroad behind him. He promised to shed more light on his intentions and future plans at a press conference planned for January 18, 2005. Speaking of the game, yes, there was one. Bohemians faced a Jablonec team that is currently in the fifth place in the first division standing. Nine hundred Bohemians fans, hungry to hear the ownership news and see their beloved club play for the first time in 2005, went home happy. And it was not only fans’ hunger that surprised the game organizers - the beer supply ran out before the second half even started. Bohemians won 2:0 on goals scored by Třasák from a free kick in the 16. minute, and Huňa in the 19. minute of the game. We can only surmise that players’ on field effort was not hurt by the presence of the new owners.
Bohemians: Raba - Žáček, Matuszny, Strnad, Třasák - Prošek (63. Janák), Podrazský, Hanus, M. Zinhasovič (76. Vaňous) - Huňa, Klesa (87. Zahradník).
