<i>“Power to the people.<br /> Power to the people, right on.”<br /> (John Lennon)<br /><br /></i> So how is the Bohemians Fans’ Team (DFB) doing? Very well, thank you. In a short period of time, the DFB accomplished far more than all the previous owners combined together. They have rallied fans and sympathizers of the team to support the team revival efforts. They have managed to find a potential sponsor for the team. They are in the process of negotiating and re-negotiating all debts to “football subjects”, whatever it means. It is said that close to 80% of outstanding debts have been either completely eliminated or drastically minimized.
Collection efforts continue. Media are captivated by this unique action in which ordinary fans took the fate of their club into their own hands. The DFB boys also managed to gain support from a very formidable ally - the Czech Football Association. Many thanks for the hard work to all of those involved.
The Czech Football Association made it known that the fine imposed on Bohemians for not finishing the 2004/05 season due to its financial problems may be reduced. In fact, the original fine in the amount of 3.000.000 crowns may be scaled down to one tenth of its original amount.
Sparta Prague is rumoured to be ready to contribute financially to the DFB. Sparta’s intentions caused quite a stir among Bohemians fans. While some did not think it wise to accept a financial contribution from a traditional opponent, a vast majority saw this gesture as it was meant - help in the hour of need.
Bohemians youth teams have started their season. Both junior and senior youth team will play for the first time this spring on their home turf on Saturday. The first game starts at 10:15 a.m. The second game will follow at 12:15 p.m. All fans are invited to come out and cheer for green-and-whites. And to make the invitation even more tempting, it has been announced that anyone who shows up dressed in Bohemians paraphernalia (jerseys, scarves, hats, etc.) will get a free beer. Did somebody say free beer? Hey, I may even talk my dog into sporting green-and-white!
