We are not there yet, but we are close. That is the message coming from the DFB (Bohemians Fans’ Club). At first some might have compared the fans’ hope to a fool’s hope. Today even the deepest critic must admit that much has been accomplished and that there is a strong reason to expect the unexpected: The saving of FC Bohemians Prague and its continuation in Czech football.
The newfound sponsor of Bohemians AFK Vrsovice is working hard to save the club. One thing to say about this company is that the people at the top have never been directly or indirectly involved in destruction and consequent bankruptcy of Bohemians. The company boss Emil Buric has been showing some concrete results as of lately and has the support of DFB.
There are some good news about the 17 million debt. The AFK and DFB talk individually to different creditors about lowering the debt amount. There is not enough resources to pay everybody back the full amount, so the offer on the table is…we’ll give you 10% of what we owe you. The word is that out of the 40 recognized outstanding debt amounts the majority has been completely wiped. Some specific names and numbers are coming soon.
AFK is also putting their best effort in returning to “Dolicek” next season, the home stadium of FC Bohemians. They are currently in the negotiating process with the stadium owner. Well, that about does it. In the near future the 1,100 members of DFB will be deciding on how to invest the 2,500,000 crowns (about $110,000) they were able to collect over the past few weeks. Don’t let hearing this make you comfortable though. There is still time to give. There still is a great need. And if you’ve been thinking about supporting the DFB, put action to your thoughts and get plugged in. The light at the end of the tunnel gets closer with each supporter, with each donation. Make your voice count!
