These past few weeks seemed like eternity to all who love Bohemians. The constant checking for updates and waiting, speculating and guessing, trying so hard not to lose that which finally got us through – hope. It is my privilege now to repeat the words of Antonin Jelinek, the chairman of the Bohemians Supporters’ Trust (DFB): “The wait is over. It is finished.” Today’s press conference at hotel Hilton, Prague revealed much of what has been accomplished and brought forth specific details that we were waiting for. We will be letting you know of all developments in the next few days, as they become available. Meanwhile, here is the first tidbit...
The Media Release of AFK Vrsovice concerning the continuation of FC Bohemians Prague (digest)
AFK Vrsovice began on 21. March 2005 with a single purpose in mind – to save Bohemians Prague and make sure it continues in football. AFK’s only shareholder is a British company called “New Europe Entrepreneurs Counsellors Company Unlimited.” This company has one board member and three control commission members – of which one is a man from DFB.
Of all dates it was on Friday 13th, (13.5.05), that the executive board of the Czech Football Association decided that AFK fulfilled all necessary requirements and named AFK a member of the Czech Football Association and the only legitimate continuator of FC Bohemians Prague.
As far as outstanding claims, nearly all have been solved except a few (See “Can we break through the barricade?”). AFK firmly believes that these “few” were only waiting for this whole process to finish and that their compliance is soon to follow.
About FC Bohemians Prague logo: It has been promised by TJ Bohemians Praha (the owner of this logo). The promise was that if AFK becomes the new owner, or continuator of FC Bohemians Prague, then they will give AFK the license to use the logo. This has happened and AFK believes that TJ Bohemians Praha will put feet to their promise and thus satisfy the cry of us fans.
It seems likely that FC Bohemians Prague will continue in its good old stadium “Dolicek” for at least another season.
Jiri Steinbroch became the new executive director of FC Bohemians Prague. He has been in the football world for many years and AFK sees him as a guarantee for a successfully run football club.
