ČMFS Cup: Čelákovice - Bohemians 1905 2:2 (1:0), 4:3 on penalties

Bohemka made an early exit from the Czech Football Association (ČMFS) Cup by losing to the fourth division team of Čelákovice in the penalty shootout. And if this was not bad enough, worse news arrived later on. The player, who came on the field in the second half and made his presence immediately known, was taken to a local hospital in the ambulance. The first diagnosis for the 19-year old forward Martin Vojtíšek is very serious - torn knee ligaments and a broken collar bone. We wish him speedy recovery and hope for his early return on the field.

The game itself did not bring any surprises.  The home team concentrated on defence, relying on quick breaks.  This tactic paid off handsomely, giving the host team a 2:0 lead despite the fact that Bohemka was in control of the game.  However, scoring a goal proved to be a difficult task for Bohemka even on the most glorious opportunities.  It was not for the lack of trying - although the score was 2:0 with 15 minutes to go, all Bohemka players played as if their life depended on it.  Their effort did not go unrewarded.  First, Vojtíšek was pulled down by a goalie which resulted in the penalty shot - 1:2.  The goalie was red carded on this play.  And then Vojtíšek scored a tying goal in the dying minutes of the regular time.

The penalty shootout is always a bit of a lottery.  This time the luck was on our opponent’s side.

This game was the last rehearsal before the home premiere that will take place in Ďolíček on August 7 at 5 p.m. against Slavia B.
