The game’s climax came in the fourth minute of overtime when the young stopper of Bohemians, Milan Škoda, tied the score on a header. Until then the game had its customary scenario - Bohemka pressing, scuttling even the most brilliant opportunities to score a goal while Teplice’s team was happy to sit back, and defend a one goal lead.
Fans that came again in large numbers had an opportunity to see a few interesting faces on both teams. Teplice introduced in their lineup Zdeněk Koukal, who grew up playing football for Bohemians youth teams and whose father used to play for Bohemians during Bohemka’s most famous period in 1980’s. Also on their roster was the man who a few years ago won the scoring title in the Czech first division - Kowalík. He has been trying to find his former form ever since. Bohemka fielded a new young forward, Robert Machuta, who was a pleasant surprise - technically strong, fast, he created quite a few openings in Teplice’s defense.
Despite another point loss at home, fans appreciated a marked improvement in the team’s play. This was one game that was enjoyable to watch. It seems that Bohemka’s play has been gradually improving and hopefully will continue improving as the team jells together.
