The leading team of the third league, České Budějovice B, came to Ďolíček with a confidence substantiated by excellent results so far this season. Kangaroos, on the other hand, wanted to prove to their loyal fans that after a slow start this season the good football shown in the last few games was not just a fluke.
Bohemka players started where they left off the last game - with a sustained pressure, creating scoring chances. It did not take too long and the fans had an opportunity to celebrate the first goal when Strnad headed unmistakably into the net. Even after the goal, Bohemka, supported by an enthusiastic crowd, continued in its conquest of Budějovice’s goal. However, leaving the back door open proved to be a mistake. Budějovice took advantage of the situation on a break of two against one and tied the score a few minutes before the half time.
Mr. Busta, the coach of Bohemians, admitted after the game that he raised his voice in the dressing room during the intermission. Maybe he should raise his voice more frequently, as Bohemka started the second half like champions. Fans appreciated not only attractive brand of football that Bohemka delivered but also pretty goals in Budějovice’s net. From the start of the second half to the end of the game, it was a football concert for fans who were crying for one more, one more.
If this team can maintain, and perhaps even improve its current level of performance, there is no telling how high it can aim.
