Both teams have undergone one week of extensive physical conditioning (hated by most players) prior to the game so fans expected more of a battle than a football gem. It was Příbram, currently the fourth team of the first division, which was supposed to have an upper hand in this match.
Příbram fielded its strongest team, including the star player, Václav Koloušek. No wonder that Bohemians started the game somewhat awestruck; it took players about 20 minutes to shake their respect off. Ironically, the turnaround came after the first goal in Bohemka’s net from a disputed penalty shot. All of a sudden, Bohemka players started playing an aggressive and inventive type of football. It did not take too long before Bohemka turned the score around. First, it was a junior team player, Bartek, who tied the score and then an empty netter by Slezák put Bohemka ahead. From then on, Bohemka never relinquished its lead.
Růžička increased Bohemka’s lead to 3:1, however, the former Kangaroo, Huňa, countered almost immediately for Příbram - 3:2. When the newly tested defender, tall Marek Nešpor, restored Bohemka’s lead to 2 goals after a corner kick, the match seemed to be over. Příbram, once again, came back to narrow Bohemka’s lead to one goal but that was all she wrote. Final result 4:3 for Bohemka is very flattering. It should provide our guys with confidence for their next games.
