If the game was played for only 87 minutes. If the referee was a quality referee... If, if, if... Slavia’s line-up was a bit diluted. It featured both players from the “A” and “B” team, as well as potential reinforcements for the “A” team - Croat Aračič and Hungerian Hercegvalvi.
Bohemka was a better, more dangerous team in the first half. Already in the 11th.minute of the game Strnad’s header after a great pass from Rosický ended in Slavia’s net, however, the main referee disallowed it. Strnad was supposedly off-side. The main referee was probably the only person on the planet who saw it that way. This did not discourage Strnad who after giving two Slavia “A” team defenders lessons in some fancy moves sent the ball past the rushing goalie in the net.
The second half brought scoring chances to both teams, however, only one team scored. Slavia waited almost until the end of the game with the tying goal on a lucky rebound. Bohemka needed a win to go on in the Tipsport Cup and that’s why it pulled all the stops but to no avail. On the contrary, Slavia took advantage of Bohemka’s thin defense and scored the winning goal.
It was the following day that the tournament directorate invited Bohemians 1905 to participate in the semi-finals of the Tipsport Cup in lieu of Mladá Boleslav, whose team could not participate due to a previously negotiated engagement. It is a reward not only for a good play of our boys but also for a large number of our fans who came to cheer for their team.
The semi-final game against the first division Teplice will be played in Eden on Saturday, January 28 at 11 a.m. Winning and losing teams from Saturday’s games will meet on Sunday.
