This game was supposed to be a thriller. Our Bohemka hosted a team from the Prague suburbs of Střížkov. This team pretends to be Bohemka by leasing Bohemians name. However, fans have voted with their feet - while average home attendance for Bohemians 1905 games hovers around the 5,000 mark, the average home attendance for Střížkov games is around 150 (and that includes family members and friends). Large attendance anticipated for this game exceeded all expectations. 7805 paying fans attended this game, creating a new attendance record for the third league.
The game itself left a lot to be desired. The play of both teams was very cautious, as if both coaches preferred not losing over winning. Guests from Střížkov were better in the first half. They looked more cohesive, mobile, and dangerous. The home team looked timid, as if record attendance was more of a hindrance than a motivation.
This all changed in the second half when Bohemka finally took over. Although some scoring chances called for a goal, none was scored. The game ended up in a scoreless tie. Given the number of scoring chances on both sides, the result is probably just.
Spectators, although disappointed by not having seen the defeat of the hated opponent, had a field day. They came up with a creative choreography that kept them entertained despite of what was happening on the field. You can see that kind of thing only on Bohemka!
