This is probably a case of too little, too late, but fans were grateful for the win anyway. Bohemka travelled to picturesque south Bohemia with one goal - improving its damaged reputation from previous games. The team was accompanied by approximately 300 fans.<br /> The host team’ roster, weakened by the absence of players summoned for their duty with the first team, was propped up by an addition of players from their youth team. As if Bohemka took a cue from their opponent, it also fielded two promising youngsters from their youth team - Bartek and Hašek. As it turned out, coach Busta had a Midas touch - the only goal of the game was scored by Bartek after a free kick executed by Hašek.
Bohemka was a better team throughout the game. Kangaroos outplayed their opponents in every category. The only weakness displayed by our boys was a scoring touch around the net. If that does not improve, coach Busta will become a nervous wreck by the season’s end.
The most pleasant surprise of the game was the play of Ivan Hašek. The youngster, whose famous father was capped 56 times for the Czech national team, displayed a rare combination of youthful exuberance and maturity. His execution of free and corner kicks was faultless; one of them resulted in the only goal of the game. Hašek was a dominating player throughout the game. Fans should not worry about the future of Bohemka with players like Bartek and Hašek coming up through the system.
It was revealed after the game that players were fined after the home game fiasco against the reserve team of Příbram (1:1). On top of that, the bonus system that paid them extra money for wins and ties was suspended. All the extra money will be paid to them retroactively if the team places second at the end of the season. We shall see how the mammon motivation will work out.
The next game (and in our opinion, the most important game at this stage of the season) will be played in Čáslav on Wednesday, May 17 at 5 p.m. This is the game that was postponed at the beginning of the season due to a soggy field. Čáslav is currently in the best position to win the third league.
