The creation of the Bohemians 1905 reserve team necessitated some changes in the coaching staff. The changes went beyond the usual appointments; the re-alignment of responsibilities is an interesting arrangement which is apparently quite common in England, but not in the Czech Republic. Or so says Zbyněk Busta who saw a similar system during his internship with West Ham United.<br /> Zbyněk Busta will continue his duties as the A-team coach. One of his assistants will be Petr Kostelník, the former outstanding goalkeeper. Another assistant will be newly acquired Václav Hradecký who has a lot of practical coaching experience, e.g., he coached Viktoria Žižkov. All three coaches will work together, with Busta being the boss (head coach). Each of them will also have their own area of responsibility, with Busta being primarily responsible for the A-team, Kostelník for the B-team and Hradecký for the youth team.
They intend to have altogether about 27 adult players on the roster. These players will practice together and only prior to weekend games they will be nominated either for A-team or B-team games. The plan is to send about 9 players to the B-team game and make up numbers by adding some players from the youth team. This will provide youth team players with an adult football experience.
This is an unusual arrangement, as most clubs in the Czech Republic keep A-team and B-team squads separate. A-squads and B-squads don’t usually practice together; they even quite often practice and play at different locations which makes it more difficult for the head coach to evaluate players’ development. Well, as Sheryl Crow sings, change is good.
