The Czech Football Cup - 2. Round: Bohemians 1905 - Teplice 1:1 (1:0), 5:6 on penalties

Bohemka players don’t have to hang their heads.  They performed admirably against an opponent that should be head and shoulders above them.  In the end, it was just a matter of luck that Teplice advanced instead of Bohemka. In a surprise move, coach Busta inserted young stopper Škoda in the line-up instead of very experienced Rada (it was later learned that Rada was injured and could not play against his former team).  Škoda surprised everybody, probably even himelf, by playing with a poise of a seasoned veteran.

It was an interesting game to watch, with plenty of action at both ends.  Škoda rewarded coach Busta for his confidence in him by opening the score of the game on a header.  Following the leading goal, Teplice stepped up the tempo of the game, however Sňozík was excellent.  Bohemka had some chances too, unfortunately it was Teplice’s Verbíř who tied the score in extra time.

A penalty shoot-out followed up.  Bohemka was initially ahead and could put the whole game away in the 5th series, but Slezák hit the inner part of the goal post and the ball rolled out back in to the field.

And so it went on until series No.8 when youngster Uchytil failed to score and Teplice with a great deal of luck made it to the third round of the Czech Football Cup.
