Two Weekends - Five Wins

It is getting a bit scary.  Bohemians keep on going like an Energizer bunny.  We hope that they will continue in the same vein when the league games start.

Tipsport Cup: Bohemians 1905 - Dynamo  České Budějovice  1:0 (0:0)

Budějovice fielded practically their reserve team for this game as their first division team played a preparation game at about the same time in Germany (Bielefeld).

Strong winds contributed to the character of this game - it was all about good conditioning and strong will.  The first half was even with some scoring chances at both ends.  Bohemka slowly increased its pressure on Budějovice in the second half, culminating with the goal from close by well playing Pavel Hašek.  Other scoring chances by various Bohemians players were not utilized and so the game ended with only one goal margin victory.

Tipsport Cup: Bohemians 1905 - Marila Příbram  2:0 (1:0)

Unlike Budějovice, the first division team of Příbram came with their strongest line-up, including three reinforcements (Tesařík, Šmerda and Rilke).  The game was played under typical winter conditions - it was snowing and was cold.

Despite these conditions, spectators witnessed an interesting game.  Bohemians proved to be a better team for most of the game.  Bohemka took an early lead when Kulvajt did not hesitate on a rebound.  Fans had to wait until the 77. minute for the second goal, but it was worth waiting for.  The team’s captain, nearly 37-year Slezák, spotted Příbram’s goalkeeper too far from his goal and scored on a beautifully placed lob.

The other old timer in Bohemians line-up, Rada, had to be substituted early in the game as he felt a sharp pain in his Achilles heal.  The nature of his injury has not been determined, yet.

Tipsport Cup: Slavia Praha - Bohemians 1905  1:2 (0:1)

The third game of the Tipsport Cup was a prestigious one for Bohemka, playing against its traditional opponent-neighbour from Vršovice district.  Slavia coach inserted some young players in the starting line-up, however with the unfavourable score he sent four experienced players on the field in the 70. minute, but to no avail.  Bohemka was simply determined to win.

The game was fairly even with both teams generating (and wasting) some chances.  It had to be Slezák again who scored a leading goal five minutes before half time.  It was a fitting celebration of his 37th birthday.

Slavia tied the score shortly after the second half started on a header by youngster Necid.  Vladimír Bálek, on a loan from Slavia, did what he is expected to do for Bohemka shortly afterwards.  He oriented himself in the penalty box, took a possession of the ball and stuffed it in the net.

With three wins out of three games, Bohemka is in good shape to win its group and go on to the semi finals of the Tipsport Cup.  All that’s needed is to get one point from the last game against Viktoria Žižkov.

Vyšehrad Cup: Bohemians 1905 - Admira Praha  3:1 (3:0)

Bohemians utilized young players in the game against the fourth division Admira.  The game had two different halves.  Bohemians thoroughly dominated the first half, scoring almost at will.

Coach Busta chose to put even more youngsters on the field in the second half.  Admira sensed its chance and started playing more aggressively.  One of its chances resulted in a penalty kick goal that set the final score of the game.

This was the first game in which coach Busta started experimenting with tall stopper Škoda filling one of the forward positions.  Škoda was surprisingly effective in his new position, even scoring one goal.

Vyšehrad Cup: Slavoj Vyšehrad - Bohemians 1905 0:4 (0:1)

Another game against the fourth division team, but this time it was a one-sided affair.  When Vyšehrad did not score from a penalty shot shortly before half time, the game was for all practical purposes over.  The young reserve team of Bohemians played with enthusiasm and scored some pretty goals.  Škoda, this time fulfilling his usual duties on defense, scored again one of the goals.

Bohemians solidified its hold on second place in its group which would guarantee a pass in the semi finals of this cup.
