Bohemians spiced up their preparation schedule by accepting an invitation from the mighty Sparta for two games played on the same day. Sparta, the richest Czech club, was looking for an opportunity to test its wide roster of players against a quality opponent.
Managers of Sparta and Bohemians agreed that “stronger” teams would play the first game and the rest of the players would be used in the second game.
Sparta Praha A - Bohemians 1905 A 2:2 (2:1)
Even Sparta could not beat the second division Kangaroos. Although Sparta took an early lead 2:0 after some mix-ups in Bohemians defence, Bohemka fought back. The newcomer Bálek scored the first goal after a good individual effort by Pavel Hašek and then the goalkeeper Sňozík punished Sparta from a penalty shot for a handball in the penalty box.

This game showed the depth difference between rosters of both teams. While Sparta could afford to introduce the newly acquired member of the Czech national team Kulič in its “B” team, Bohemians “B” team was represented by young players helped by some players from Bohemians youth team. Although coach Busta declared after the game that this was a valuable experience for his young players, one wonders if matches like these contribute anything of value. Self-confidence is a fragile thing that can be easily shattered. Well, let’s hope that our youngsters will recover from this game quickly.
