There were two series at stake before this game - Jakubčovice’s invincibility at home that lasted more than three years and Bohemka’s string of 10 games without a defeat. In the end, it was Bohemka that extended its own series of games without a loss to 11. Speaking of series, Bohemka’s results this season are not exactly neatly balanced. Bohemians gained only 6 points in the first 9 rounds and, as a result, hovered in the relegation region. Then came the above mentioned string of 11 games without a defeat (10 victories and one tie at Žižkov) that made Bohemians talk of the town.
But back to the game. Right from the start, there was no doubt which team was better. Bohemka was more active and if it were not for the home goalkeeper, Bohemians would have had at least a two goal lead going into the second half. Especially the two chances by Bálek had “goal” written all over them.
Bohemians started the second half even better. First Hašek directed the ball from two meters out over the cross bar. A few minutes later, Škoda sent Slezák on a breakaway. One of the home players had no other choice than to trip Slezák - penalty. And who else would execute it than the reliable goalie Sňozík. He did not make a mistake - 1:0 for Bohemians. At this stage, Jakubčovice had to open the game up. It resulted in more ball possession for the home team, but it was the Bohemians duo Matůš - Slezák that checkmated the porous Jakubčovice defense and Slezák had no problems to deliver the ball in to the empty net - 2:0.
The next game will be played again in good old Ďolíček. Bohemians will host Blšany that are coached by a former Bohemians great Přemysl Bičovský. The game will be played on Sunday, April 15 and starts at 4:30 pm.
