The promise of an exciting battle for the promotion to the first league attracted a large crowd to Ďolíček. In fact, the attendance of this game far exceeded attendance in other second and first league games.<br /> Both teams had the same number of points before the game started. While Bohemka’s excellent results are a very pleasant surprise to all of the fans, the promotion was not in the plans before the season started. Jihlava, on the other hand, did not make any bones about its intentions to get back in the first division as quickly as possible after being relegated the last season.
The match must have satisfied even the most demanding of fans. It was fast, dramatic, and at least for Bohemians fans, had a happy end. Bohemka was better in the first half, coming close to scoring a goal on a shot by Adam who hit the crossbar.
Jihlava was more active in the second half, with both teams trying hard to decide this important match in their favour. It was Bohemka that was luckier, scoring the only goal of the game halfway through the second half on a header by Bálek. The goal situation can be seen here (for a larger viewing area click on the button “Přehrávač v novém okně): low quality (128 kbps) or high quality (512 kbps).
With six games left, Bohemka is currently in third place, seven points behind the first Žižkov and with the same number of points as second HFK Olomouc. Jihlava is fourth, three points behind Bohemka. Only two teams will be promoted to the first league.
Bohemka will play the next game against the reserve team of Sigma Olomouc (Olomouc B) on Monday, May 14 in Olomouc. The game starts at 3 pm.
