Ďolíček was ready for a football celebration after a feverish reconstruction over the last few weeks. So were the fans of both teams. Given the reputation of Ostrava fans as rowdy and combatant, the capacity of Ďolíček was lowered to 6710 spectators from about 7500 at full (reconstructed) capacity. The police and organizers were in full force everywhere, but as it turned out, there were hardly any problems. Instead, fans from both camps created a fantastic atmosphere that made watching this game a true joy.
Bohemka’s starting line-up could not measure up to its more experienced opponent, but the first few minutes of the game did not show it. The game flowed from one end to another, with admittedly better scoring chances created by the guests from Ostrava. The first goal came out of nowhere and all TV replays confirmed what a majority of fans saw - namely that it was an offside situation. Bohemka’s defender under pressure booted the ball in the chest of Ostrava’s player and the ball bounced directly to another Ostrava player who was clearly off-side and who ultimately scored.
Even after the first goal, Bohemians continued playing a very fast and energetic game. Ostrava created more dangerous scoring chances, but Bohemians also came close on a number of occasions. The second goal with only a few minutes remaining was a final blow to Bohemians valiant effort to even the score.
Nevertheless, fans of both teams appreciated the game, giving all the participants a standing ovation at the end of the game.
Bohemians will play the next game in Liberec on Monday, August 13. This game will be televised. Its start is at 5:15 pm.
