Ufff that was a close one! This was a game that was designed to cause some fan a heart attack. Luckily, those with shaky nerves and weak tickers left Ďolíček earlier. Bohemians wanted to win; they also wanted to score the first goal in their first league campaign. They failed at the first task, but in regards to the second one they finally got the monkey off of their back.<br />
The game did not start well for Kangaroos. The young midfielder/defender, Pávek, had to be substituted in the 4th minute of the game after his foot was stepped on by one opposing player. That disrupted the team‘s game plans and, as it turned out, it cost Bohemians dearly.
Žižkov played smartly in the first half, taking advantage of frequent miscues of Bohemians in the midfield and on defense. Švancara was an especially large thorn in the Bohemians side. He scored the first goal of the game after a few neat passes by his teammates. And he showed that he is not just another pretty face by sidestepping three Bohemians defenders before passing to Bukač for an easy second goal.
It was a desperate time for Bohemians. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work for them and the halftime break was welcomed by both players and fans of Bohemians alike.
Bohemians started pressing in the second half, but with the exception of Kunášek’s golden opportunity that Bartalský miraculously saved, there were no scoring chances. Žižkov did not make any bones about their plans for the rest of the game - delay the game as frequently and for as long as possible. However, Žižkov was playing with fire and in the end, payed the price for it. Under pressure most of the time, Žižkov players had to help themselves with frequent fouls. First, Moughfire had to leave the field after being shown the second yellow card. He was followed by his teammate Stracený, for the very same reason. With two men short, it was just a question of time when the Žižkov fortress will get penetrated.
The first first division goal of Bohemians was headed in the net after 444 minutes of trying by Turtenwald. The tying goal was also a header, scored by Slezák in the dying seconds of the game. Bohemians fans celebrated wildly as if their team had won. Well, maybe next time.
