One of the worst kept secrets is out - Bohemians has a new director. The management of the club announced that, effective September 27, 2007, Lukáš Přibyl will become Director of Bohemians as well as a member of the executive board. 28-year old Přibyl has been associated with Bohemka for many years. He started attending Bohemka games when he was 12 years old. When the club was officially declared bankrupt a few years ago, he was instrumental in the resuscitation efforts. After all, his DFB (Bohemians Supporters’ Trust) membership card carries number 005.
Lukáš, called Příba by fans and friends alike, cut his teeth in the sport business by working for the Czech TV as a sports commentator from 1998 to 2005. During those years, Příba has been a contributing editor of the Czech version of Virtuální Ďolíček, the web site that you are currently at. In 2005 the richest football club in the Czech Republic, Sparta Prague, approached him to become their PR Director and a member of the executive board. Příba accepted this tempting offer, but he made Sparta aware that he was a Bohemka fan. Sparta executives did not seem to mind.
Through his good work for Sparta, Příba avoided any problems with Sparta management due to his association with Bohemians Sparta hard core fans, though, were not sometimes as kind. Although it was a bit risky, Příba continued contributing articles under an assumed name to Virtuální Ďolíček even during his Sparta stint.
When approached by Bohemians management about filling the post of director which was empty since the summer when Mr. Steinbroch left for Ružomberok, Příba had a hard choice to make. In the end, he decided to put his heart ahead of his wallet, leaving a cushy job at Sparta for a challenging job at Bohemians. Bohemians thus have another director who is also a fan of the club.
Příba brings with him formidable communication skills and management experience with the largest, richest (and most hated) Czech club. He will relate well to ordinary fans as not a long time ago he was one of them.
We wish Příba every success in his new job.
