Bohemians started the game in the Moravian metropolis very well. Instead of playing defense as one would expect, they played an open game that must have pleased most football fans both at the stadium and in front of TV screens. Youngsters Moravec and Hašek responded to the home team chances with scoring chances of their own. Unfortunately, goals in the Brno net did not materialize.
The second half was shockingly different. Brno took the lead only 22 seconds into the second half when Polách fired a hard volley out of Sňozík’s ever diminishing reach. Not to be outdone, two minutes later Polách’s teammate Kalouda first gave Rychlík a lesson on how to play one-on-one before getting his laser shot past hapless Sňozík. Bohemians never recovered and in the end they were lucky that they escaped with only a two goal deficit.
Bohemians fans were quite understandably upset not only about the outcome of the game, but also about the team’s performance in the second half. Many blamed the coach, some blamed players. It is undeniable that this team is incapable of scoring goals - scoring six goals in twelve games has not exactly set the league on fire. Once their opponents score the first goal, the game is pretty much over. Something has to be done to rectify this situation.
The team could use a winter break right now. However, four more games will have to be played before players can enjoy some rest.
The next game will be a difficult one - playing against Sparta Praha away from home would be a challenge for any team. The game will be played on Monday, November 11; it starts at 5:15 pm.
