This was a hard fought and hard won match. Sokolov defended very well all the time, with the exception of the last ten minutes when they applied pressure. However, it was too little too late. Bohemians had to go into the game knowing that three of their best players were not available due to injuries: goalkeeper Sňozík, midfielder Morávek and forward Slezák. Of those three, the absence of young star Morávek was the hardest felt. Nobody in the midfield seemed to be able to provide the same type of smart playmaking only Morávek can provide. On the other hand, it was very encouraging to see Lukáš Hartig on the bench after a long absence due to torn knee ligaments.
Bohemians controlled the game, but Sokolov was not an easy opponent. Their defense was strong, not allowing Bohemians too many chances. However, had Škoda capitalized on his chances the game would have been a cakewalk. That did not happen and, as a result, it was a nail biter until the end. It was Bohemians rearguard, Rychlík that had to come to the rescue. His low shot from about 25 meters out ended up in the corner of the net and that was all Bohemians needed.
Bohemians have gained 12 points from 4 games played so far, thank you very much. They will attempt to extend their winning streak on Saturday, August 30 in Olomouc where they will play HFK Olomouc. The game starts at 5pm.
