Important win: Bohemians - Dukla 1:0

Who said that football fans are too crude to appreciate fine culture? Most of the fans leaving the sold out Ďolíček after the game against Dukla mumbled to themselves The Bard’s words: All’s well that ends well. The beginning of the game was very untidy. There were scouts from Bayern Munich, Schalke 04 and other foreign clubs in the audience to observe Bohemians super-talent Jan Morávek. As if their presence made all the other players nervous, neither team could put together a few good passes.

Bohemians calmed down before Dukla did.  It was mostly the left side of the midfield that threatened the reinforcement in Dukla’s goal, Michal Vorel.  Ferenc Róth scared Vorel twice with his shots before making him pay.  Róth first out smarted one of Dukla’s defending players before sending a sharp pass to lanky Škoda, who skilfully deflected the ball into the net. With the sold out stadium loudly behind them, Bohemians continued in their attacking ways.  Fans must have enjoyed this part of the match the most.

The second half started the same way the first half ended.  However, with the passing time Dukla started playing better.  When substituting Ibragimov let himself to be ejected from the game for a silly foul in the centre field, it did not look good for the home team.  Bohemians had to rely on their good defensive corps just to hang on to their one goal lead.  This was more a battle than a game.  It’s no wonder that fans were mentally exhausted in the end.

As it happens, with this all important victory Bohemians opened a 4-point lead in the standings over the second club (Jihlava).  Let’s hope that this lead will remain intact even after the next game that will be played in Sokolov on Saturday, March 14.  The game starts at an unusual time - 10:15 am.
