Calculator "magic number".
Many fans try to figure out how close Bohemians are to the promotion to the first league. For that reason we have devised a simple calculator called a “magic number” to follow the progress of their battle. This magic number indicates how many points Bohemians must get AND the other team to lose in the remaining games for Bohemians to be in the clear. For example, if Bohemians beat (as expected) their next opponent, Fulnek, and all of the other teams win as well, all magic numbers will decrease by 3. If, however, Jihlava ties its game, its magic number will decrease by an additional 2 points. When the magic number goes to zero the respective team will not be able to surpass Bohemians.
Two teams will be promoted at the end of the season. Realistically, beside Bohemians there are only three other teams that vie for the promotion - Čáslav, Jihlava, and Dukla. Their magic numbers after the 23rd round are:
Čáslav 13
Jihlava 14
Dukla 10
When the magic number for two out of the three teams shown above reaches zero, Bohemians will be assured of heading to the first league.
Please note that the overall results of Bohemians mutual matches with Čáslav and Dukla are favourable for Bohemians. Therefore, even an equal number of points with these teams at the end of the season would guarantee Bohemians promotion. The second match against Jihlava is yet to be played, so Jihlava’s magic number is higher by one extra point.
