This is the message on the new t-shirt (available at the fanshop), and now, thanks to the decision of the Industrial Property Office, it is true.
For more than four years, Bohemka have been battling with Střižkov Football Club for the exclusive use of the name Bohemians and all logos connected with the club, including the famous kangaroo. Yesterday, that battle came to an end. Bohemians 1905 will now be the only club allowed to use any of the names and symbols which are historically connected to the Vršovice club. For readers who may not be fully aware of the situation, the dispute arose in 2005 when our beloved Bohemka (then called Bohemians Praha) went bankrupt. The Bohemians Praha Sports Club then attempted to sell the rights to the name and club badge to the team from Střižkov. But when the fans came together to save the Vršovice club, Bohemians 1905 came into existence, but Střižkov took the name Bohemians Praha and all symbols and logos connected with Bohemians. Since then, a series of legal proceedings have ensued, finally coming to an end yesterday.
"Four years ago we started this fight and we are extremely pleased that thanks to the consistent work of our lawyers, we can proudly declare that Bohemka, once again, belongs only to Vršovice", said Lukáš Přibyl, director of Bohemians 1905. "Only one Bohemians should start in the first league, namely the one which has the support of the fans. " He added that the media will now be informed to refrain from using the name Bohemians in connection with the Střižkov club.
"Of course we are aware of the endless attacks from the other party and their constant attacks on the validity of our membership (to the Czech league) . During our four years of playing in the competition we have striven to build a good reputation, a good football stadium, and to attract as many fans as possible. We are ready to keep fighting for the good name of Bohemka and for those who are entitled to make a connection to this famous club", added the Bohemians 1905 Director.
The favourable outcome of the proceedings is sure to be pleasing to the fans as well, who will no doubt be delighted to say that, once again, there really is only one Bohemka.
