Short summary of last season.
Orchestra: Bohemians 1905Conductor: Pavel Hoftych
Soloist: Jan Morávek
The Bohemians 1905 orchestra performed admirably this past season albeit only on the minor concert circuit. Due to their success, they earned the right to join the major concert circuit (called GL, i.e., Gambrinus League) for the upcoming season 2009/2010.
Below is a short summary of their performances last season.
1. Movement - Allegro
Ústí nad Labem Bohemians 1905 0:1
Bohemians 1905 SFC Opava 1:0
Dukla Praha Bohemians 1905 1:3
Bohemians 1905 Baník Sokolov 1:0
None of the ensemble fans expected such a good start into the season considering the departure of the previous conductor, Zbyněk Busta, who was replaced by Pavel Hoftych. The new conductor summoned some players that were unceremoniously dumped by Mr. Busta to provincial orchestras, e.g., Adam and Rychlík. Mr.Hoftych also restored the status of veterans Lukáš and Sňozík who were in the doghouse under the previous leadership. The vote of confidence paid off - these players performed well and contributed to the early season success.
2. Movement - Adagio
HFK Olomouc Bohemians 1905 1:1
Bohemians 1905 Most 2:2
Vítkovice Bohemians 1905 1:0
Bohemians 1905 Sparta Praha B 0:0
Čáslav Bohemians 1905 1:1
Fulnek Bohemians 1905 1:1
The first dissonant tones were detected during the second movement. Obviously, the changes in the orchestra as well as behind the conductor stand required a bit longer for everything to jell together.
3. Movement - Allegretto
Bohemians 1905 Karviná 2:0
1.FC Slovácko Bohemians 1905 0:2
Bohemians 1905 Vysočina Jihlava 2:0
Hradec Králové Bohemians 1905 1:2
Bohemians 1905 Třinec 1:0
SFC Opava Bohemians 1905 1:0
Bohemians 1905 Dukla Praha 1:0
Baník Sokolov Bohemians 1905 1:2
Bohemians 1905 HFK Olomouc 2:0
Most Bohemians 1905 0:1
The third movement brought the best out of the Bohemians 1905 orchestra. Their utilitarian style was appreciated by fans both in their home concert hall (Ďolíček) and on the road. Those fans with taste for something extraordinary could sample brilliant performances by the rising young star of the orchestra, 19-year old Jan Morávek. All in all, this was the most enjoyable part of the 2008/2009 concert season.
4. Movement - Rondo
Bohemians 1905 Vítkovice 1:1
Sparta Praha B Bohemians 1905 0:0
Bohemians 1905 Čáslav 2:0
Bohemians 1905 Fulnek 2:0
Karviná Bohemians 1905 1:1
Bohemians 1905 1.FC Slovácko 1:0
Vysočina Jihlava Bohemians 1905 0:1
Rondo brought a mixed bag of performances that nevertheless culminated with a strong effort in Jihlava where the ensemble finally clinched its promotion to the major concert circuit for the following season.
Encore
Bohemians 1905 Hradec Králové 1:0
Třinec Bohemians 1905 1:1
Bohemians 1905 Ústí nad Labem 0:1
Some substitute players were given their chance, but the last stage performance in Ďolíček was dedicated to a farewell for the young star Jan Morávek. He is embarking on a concert career with a major world orchestra (Schalke 04) and everybody at Bohemians 1905 wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.
Now it’s up to the management to carefully evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the ensemble and add a few seasoned and some promising players. However, replacing Jan Morávek will be a major task.
Fans who can’t wait for the new season to start should note that the season ticket sale starts on Wedenesday, June 24, 2009 in Ďolíček.
