Farewell to a Fan Favourite,

Hello to a Brand New Season

A lot has been happening at Bohemka since any articles have appeared on here in English (for which I apologise), so let me try to get you up to date.

Preparations for the new season are now fully underway, without last seasons star player Jan Morávek who has joined German club Schalke 04 for an undisclosed fee. Morávek had long been the subject of bids from domestic and foreign leagues, but a move to Schalke was always the preferred option for the player. The tireless midfielder expressed his gratitude to the club where he learned his trade upon his departure, "At Bohemka I only have good memories. there were great coaches, great people and great fans here. Bohemka means a lot to me, but it is time to move on. I‘ve never played for another club, and a big change awaits me, but I believe I'm ready. " said Morávek. He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the club as well as the fans. Although the fee for the transfer was not released, it is known to be the largest in Bohemians history.

The next exciting piece of news is that season ticks for the coming year are now on sale. Fans can buy their tickets at the stadium in the VIP area under the main grandstand, or in the Fan Shop every weekday from 11am to 5pm, and on Wednesdays from 12pm to 7pm. Fans who had season tickets last season still have a reserved ticket in place for them up until the 10th of July. These fans are also entitled to a discount in any section of the stadium. For example, in the event that a fan had tickets in Sector B (the kotel) last season, but would now like to switch to the Sector A (grandstand), a discounted price will be available (2000kc total per pass). Tickets will be issued immediately and processing should take no longer than five minutes. However, in order to speed up the process further, the club encourages fans to fill out the relevant details in a questionnaire. One person can buy any number of tickets, but the forms must be completed for each individual. This data is used to provide information about possible changes or benefits for season ticket holders. In the event that your ticket is lost, the information can also be used to identify the fan, upon which time they will be issued a new pass.

The form can be completed in advance and is available here as a downloadable PDF file (560kb).

It also appears likely that three league matches for the upcoming season will take place at Strahov Stadium due to the absence of under-soil heating at Dolicek. Naturally, season ticket holders will be granted access to the stadium at no extra cost, and will likely be able to choose which sector of the stadium they would like to attend.

In other news, the draw for the second round of the ČMFS Cup (Czech FA Cup) has been made. As Bohemians are now are top league side, they are not required to play in the first round. The team will play the winner of the match between Český Brod and Ovčáry. The game will take place on the 2nd of September. Assuming Bohemka can overcome this challenge, a long trip to Moravia awaits as the team will play the winner from these four teams; Brumov - Slavičín / Orlova – Trinec.

Pre-Season friendly games have also been taking place. In their first warm-up game for the new season, Bohemians beat Slovakia Nitra 3-0. Since then there have been defeats to Slovan Liberec (2-1) and most recently, on the teams trip to Austria, a 2-0 defeat to Romanian side Seuea Bucharest.

Finally, Bohemka have welcomed a new addition to the team. Striker Luděk Zelenka joins on a 6 month loan deal from Dulka Praha. The move was partly prompted by an injury to the club’s leading scorer for the past two seasons, Milan Škoda.
